Caring for leather in a monsoon city

If you've lived through a Kuala Lumpur afternoon storm, you know the routine: ten dry minutes, then sudden, sideways rain. Leather hates that. Humidity, sun, salt, and the occasional teh tarik spill all leave marks if you let them.

The good news: a small weekly ritual keeps your POLO HILL pieces in service for years. Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth on Sunday evenings. Once a month, apply a pea-sized amount of neutral leather conditioner with a clean cloth, in small circles. Never use baby wipes.

Storage matters more than people think. Avoid plastic bags — they trap moisture and cause mildew. Use the dust bag your piece arrived in, stuff bags lightly with acid-free paper, and store in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight.

If your bag gets caught in a downpour, blot — don't rub — with a dry towel and let it air dry naturally, away from fans or heaters. Patience is the only real trick.
